Lately, I've had blogging on the brain.

I've been thinking about how to show up more consistently in this space - not just for the same of posting, but to share more of what's inspiring me behind the scenes at Wovenwood.  Part of what drives me is the belief that bringing something new to the Australian homewares space means not only offering beautiful products, but also creating a space for thoughtful conversation around design, living and what it means to truly feel at home.

I've also been listening.  So many of you ask insightful, curious questions - about styling, where to find inspiration or how to get that layered look synonymous with California Casual design. It's sparked a desire to not just answer those questions one-on-one, but to begin gathering ideas and resources that speak to them more broadly.

So in that spirit, I thought I'd share four blogs that I think every Wovenwood customer (and design lover) will enjoy.  These are the corners of the internet I return to for inspiration, soulful design and creative spark - and I think you'll love them too.

1. Chris Loves Julia

Real-life renovations with heart and soul

I've been following Chris and Julia Marcum's journey for close to a decade - long enough to feel like I've moved through houses right alongside them.  From their early days of DIY blogging to the incredible brand they've built, I've found it so inspiring to watch their style and business grow and evolve.

What I love most about this husband and wife duo is their willingness to take creative risks - especially in their current North Carolina home, where they've leaned into a modern colonial style filling their home with saturated colours, bold patterns and tons of drama.  Readers are not always keen on Julia's selections but she subtly reminds them it's her home, her choices and I just love seeing how oftentimes the daring choices she makes really just her being ahead of the design curve.

As parents of three girls that are nearly identical ages to my own kids, I love how they bring that same thoughtful design to their daughters' spaces - balancing style with function while letting the girls make some (but not all!) of the decisions themselves.  This really resonates with me right now as I'm in the process of re-envisioning my own kids' rooms.  I'm working to ensure that each of their spaces feels cohesive with the rest of our home, but still speak to their individual personalities.  It's definitely a bit of a challenge, but one I'm enjoying and appreciate having Chris Loves Julia to take cues from!

2.  Studio McGee (The McGee & Co. Journal)

Polished, approachable and oh-so-inspiring

Okay, let's be real - if you're not familiar with Shea McGee's work by now, you may be living under a design rock.  From Netflix to YouTube and practically every collaboration imaginable, her influence is everywhere.  But beyond the brand, I really love the variety and breadth of her bog.  It's more than just gorgeous interiors; it's a complete lifestyle guide with design inspiration, recipes, shopping guides and a little behind-the-scenes peek into her life.

Admittedly, Shea makes it all look a little too easy.  But then there's her goofy husband, Syd, who balances out the constant image of perfection with his playful personality.

Shea is best known for her transitional design style - a beautiful blend of classic and modern elements.  Think light, airy spaces that mix timeless pieces with fresh, contemporary accents.  It's a style that feels both elevated and inviting, with a touch of warmth that makes every room feel like home.

3. Amber Interiors / All Sorts Of

Boho California cool meets timeless design

Amber Interiors is my love language and I've been an avid follower for over a decade now.  Honestly, I've yet to see a space she's created that I didn't immediately want to move into.  She is the queen of textile layering - from vintage rugs to cozy throws and one-of-a-kind vintage pillows, she brings a depth and warmth to every room that feels approachable and easy - but trust me, replicating it is not!

Her blog, All Sorts Of, is packed with endless inspiration, from project reveals and product spotlights to interviews with other kick-ass female entrepreneurs, al delivered in her signature laid-back luxe tone.

4. Rip & Tan by Jenni Kayne

Natural textures, effortless living and refined simplicity

Jenni Kayne is known for her elevated take on California living - effortlessly chic, laid back and always understated.  Her brand blends nature-inspired hues with sophisticated simplicity, creating a lifestyle that feels both luxurious and grounded.  It's a timeless aesthetic that champions quality, craftsmanship, and sustainability.  For me she's the zen version of California Casual design and she is an absolute master of designing entirely neutral spaces that are anything but boring.

Her blog, Rip & Tan is a reflection of the same ethos, offering a well-curated space broken down into five key categories:

  • Style: Thoughtful fashion and home decor inspiration that embodies her signature relaxed luxury.
  • Wellness: Tips and practices for embracing a healthier, more balanced life - because feeling good is just as important as looking good
  • Entertaining: Ideas and advice on hosting with ease, from intimate gatherins to larger celebrations
  • Living: A mix of lifestyle inspiration, covering everything from interior design to personal rituals that promote comfort, mindfulness and peace
  • Food & Drink: Simple yet sophisticated recipes and seasonal food ideas that align with her commitment to wellness and beauty in everyday living.

Rip and Tan is a visual and written journey through Jenni's world - one where simplicity meets sophistication and where slow living is celebrated with every post.

They’ve each shaped the way I think about interiors in some way—reminding me that great design doesn’t have to be trendy or complicated, just honest, personal, and well considered.

If there’s a blog, designer, or corner of the internet you love and think I should know about, I’d love to hear. This space is as much yours as it is mine, and I’m always looking to learn, share, and grow alongside the Wovenwood community.
