Moodboard: Reimagining A Poolhouse

Designing our poolhouse was about creating a space that felt like a retreat—relaxed, refined, and just a little unexpected. So often, a poolhouse calls to mind crisp whites and classic navy—and boy oh boy is there a lot of inspiration out there that follows that formula. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good nautical moment, but I wanted to take a different approach. Something that felt warmer, more grounded, and a bit more layered.

Instead of leaning into the traditional coastal palette, we focused on natural textures and materials—soft linens, inky charcoals, earthy browns, and natural stone. We paired these with elements that nod to classic maritime design, like white VJ-clad walls, white subway tiles, and a take on the old-school cast iron trough basin. The combination of these finishes echo the tone of the rest of our home, helping the poolhouse feel like a true extension of the space.

The goal was to create a room that felt inviting year-round, with just the right amount of ease and charm—something that still felt connected to the water, but with warmth, personality, and a little sense of fun. After all, it is the poolhouse.

Hand-painted inky blue cabinetry, statuario Carrara marble, and tumbled limestone floors ground the space with a touch of drama and sophistication. When it came to furnishings, comfort was key. We paired the Estes Sofa in Stone with two Marlowe Armchairs, all set atop a diamond-patterned jute rug for warmth and texture.

Instead of a traditional coffee table, we opted for a (yet-to-be-debuted!) full-size version of our Laguna Ottoman. It’s perfect for kicking up our feet during movie nights—this space also doubles as the adults’ TV room—and doubles as extra seating when we’re entertaining.

Naturally, the space will be layered with a mix of our favourite Wovenwood pieces—cushions, throws, lighting, and decor that bring it all to life.

While the real room is still coming together, this moodboard captures the layered, lived-in look we always aim for: soft but structured, tailored but welcoming. A poolhouse, reimagined the Wovenwood way.
