A beautifully timeworn piece of antique French faïence by the renowned Faïencerie de Gien. This elongated ravier features a delicate raspberry-red transferware design of perched birds and trailing botanicals, framed by a traditional foliate border.

The warm cream ground has developed wonderful all-over crazing, tonal variation and staining with age, giving the piece the wonderfully collected character we love in antique ceramics. Raised on a low foot with gently moulded detailing at either end, it is beautiful displayed on a shelf or console, or used to hold small treasures.

Bearing the historic “Porcelaine Opaque de Gien” backstamp to the underside. Dating to the late 19th to early 20th century.
