A beautifully timeworn antique French stoneware preserve jar, originally crafted as a utilitarian vessel for storing food in the French pantry.

Finished in a wonderfully aged soft grey-cream glaze with fine all-over crazing, the simple cylindrical form is finished with a traditional cork stopper and an incised numeral to the lower body — a lovely reminder of its practical beginnings.

Beautiful styled on open kitchen shelving or layered amongst collected ceramics, its understated form, aged surface and wonderfully imperfect finish bring an authentic sense of history to a space.
